It was only a matter of time before the pro-UIGEA forces in the US kick-started their campaign to head off Congressman Barney Frank’s attempt to inject some sense into the deeply unpopular law. Senator Kyl of Arizona is leading the charge but has been joined by five major professional and amateur sports organizations.

Primary amongst those organizations is the National Football League whose spokesman Martin Gold has said, “Our sports organizations would very strongly oppose any effort to legalize any online sports gamblingâ€?.

I was tickled to see the response by one Capital Hill staffer when he wrote: “Oh, I see ‘keep government out of pro sports’ but have it regulate my personal use of my home computer? Niceâ€?.

Enough said, I think most online bingo players would agree.
