The climax to a crisis often sneaks up on us all before we are suddenly aware that events have overtaken us.  This must be how former US customers of Neteller must be feeling as they hear and read of developments in the ongoing row between Neteller and the US Department of Justice.

With the recent announcement by beleaguered e-wallet company that its well respected executive chairman has resigned, observers must surely be witnessing the final moments in this long drawn-out drama.  For US customers awaiting reimbursement from monies frozen by Neteller, they must wonder if they have been forgotten in all the excitement.  One thing for sure, they seem to have little control on developments and that must be a financially sickening feeling.

For those of us in the online bingo industry, and even those who take part merely as free online bingo players, the Neteller issue has been educational to say the least.  Of primary importance is the question: Can this happen again?

With the other recent announcement by another e-wallet (EcoCard) that it will withdraw from the US market, one wonders how many other ‘netellers’ are out there?

Bingo online and online bingo hall operators need to feel confidence in the the system of payment processing operating on the Internet.  Volatility in this crucial area is the last thing any of us need.  I for one will be glad to hear the last of Neteller and hope there are no other such episodes out there waiting to sneak up on us.
