Sweden’s Betsson, and online games provider and gaming operator, has seen an increase of 147 percent in net sales for the first quarter of 2007. The news is a good indication that the company’s fortunes have not been affected by problems in both the French and Turkish markets. Pontus Lindwall, Betsson’s president, said the company has launched a French-language site during the quarter. However, the marketing of freebies to new customers is being reduced in favour of making better offers and product development. Regards developments in the Turkish market, legislation against online gaming in that country has curtailed Betsson's presence in that market leading to a significant downturn in gaming volume from Turkey. Lindwall said Betsson’s Italian, Spanish and Greek language sites have been launched in markets where Betsson's range of products enjoy strong growth and that this points to increased gaming revenues for the third quarter. The company boasts 774 000 registered customers, a 13% increase. Betsson operates online gambling venues offering poker, casino gaming, sports betting, lottery, betting exchange, and online bingo. It develops its own products, including bingo online games, while providing turnkey services to online gambling operators, including online bingo hall operators.
