VfB Stuttgart allowed to carry BWIN advertisements once more - Online Bingo News
September 10, 2007
Observers of the online bingo industry and the effects European government policies may have on that industry will be pleased to note that Austrian online gaming giant BWIN has successfully challenged a ban against its name being used by VfB Stuttgart football club.
The German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg had previously banned the use of the BWIN name for advertising purposes by VfB Stuttgart, but a court in Stuttgart has ruled in favour of the football team retaining the sponsorship name. The ruling means VfB Stuttgart can continue to seek advertising deals with BWIN Interactive Entertainment AG.
The ruling will be seen as a victory by the online gaming industry as yet another bow against monopolistic policies designed to limit free trade. Online bingo halls and operators of other bingo online products within Europe will be seen to benefit from more regulatins being relaxed in this way.
