Congratulations to JackpotJoy in garnering the eGaming Awards’ Bingo Operator of the Year prize. A favourite of online bingo players visiting Bingo Street, JackpotJoy beat out a number of top online bingo halls to gather up the prestigious industry accolade. The eGaming Review Industry Awards are now in their third year and are quickly establishing themselves as a respected measure of industry excellence. In other categories, online gambling company Betfair earned the highest prize at this year’s eGaming Awards as Operator of the Year. Joining Betfair amongst the prizes was Everest Poker which won Poker Operator of the Year and 888 which took away Casino Operator of the Year. Sportingbet landed European Sportsbook Operator of the Year. Betfair now boasts registered customers in excess of one million with the number of active users hitting 443 300. One advantage Betfair has enjoyed over the last year is that it did not take on US customers before the implementation of the US’ UIGEA law which decimated the online gambling industry The result was the company remained unaffected in terms of revenue, something its rivals PartyGaming and 888.com did not experience. Many online gambling operators, including a fair few online bingo halls and online bingo games providers, were dramatically affected by lose of revenues due to UIGEA.
