Here’s a story that nearly slipped under the radar concerning two dedicated UK online bingo players who simply just had to indulge in some bingo while on holiday in decidedly anti-online bingo Turkey. About two weeks ago, the two women were arrested in Turkey and then charged with gambling offences. Their crime: Playing bingo for a free drink prize in a local bar in Aydin. The offence cost them £42 despite their protestations that they did not know unlicensed gambling was illegal. Suspects Sarah Holland and Carla Harrison could not believe what was happening when police turned up and put them in a van. "We thought we were on Candid Camera," Holland said. "We were all having a fun time and then the police turned up and forced us to fill out forms... It was completely and utterly stupid." Harrison confirmed the two had no idea it was illegal in Turkey to gamble. "They seized the bingo ball and took our tickets away from us. It was a terrifying experience and very scary. They're all armed over here," she said. "I've even seen betting shops out here, so how would we know?" Written by John Witherspoon – Visit the best UK online bingo site.
