888.com has launched as planned its promised online sportsbook into the Italian online gambling market. The move follows a freeing up of the Italian online gambling market to foreign competitors. Reuters have reported 888.com CEO Gigi Levy as saying: "It will boost revenues but it will also build customer numbers so we are in a good position next year when skill games we are strong in, like poker, are allowed." It is expected the new betting site may generate revenue of up to $5 million and as much as $10 million over the next year. Levy has confirmed that the Italian market will be a main focus for 888.com during the next couple of years. 888.com does offer an online bingo games product and it is thought that bingo online will feature in its planned expansion into the Italian market. Online bingo should see growth in Italy due to that country’s commitment to free its markets up to what it deems are games of skill. A definition by the Italian government of what is a game of skill is expected to be finalized by the end of this year. Written by John Witherspoon – Need the best online bingo games?
