Derbyshire land-based bingo halls close costing thirty jobs - Online Bingo News
November 6, 2007
Derbyshire’s land-based bingo industry has taken a hit with the announcement that up to thirty jobs will be lost due to the closing of two halls due to being ‘economically unviable’.
The closures have been blamed on the impact of a recent England-wide smoking ban in public venues and the continued high taxation exacted from the industry.
Stylus Sports have closed their Bingorama at The Ritz hall in Belper and The Regal at Staveley with managing director Peter Hargreaves saying that the decision was made with "much regret and sadness."
The online bingo industry’s fortunes have contrasted with the fortunes of its land-based cousins with growth being reported by many major free online bingo operators and online bingo halls.
