Swedish betting company Betsson has posted record third quarter results showing continuing growth and revenues along with increased profits. Betsson saw its net sales increase by 147% to SEK 177.2 million as compared with its 2006 third quarter of SEK 71.7 million. Operating profit jumped to SEK 53.7 million compared to SEK 10.4 million in 2006. Betsson's Italian, Spanish and Greek sites are still to come into their own offering even greater optimism for the company’s future growth. The company does include the chance for customers to play bingo online through its profitable online casino operation along with its Livebetting markets. The Swedish online gaming sector and general gambling business is being closely watched by observers of the online bingo industry for any signs on whether Sweden may clamp down on online gaming operators. Sweden currently operates a state-run gambling monopoly which is at odds with the European Commission’s commitment to ensuring free trade between EU member states.
