A decision by a French court ruling against companies offering online betting services on tennis games has thrown the online gaming industry into confusion as to where French online gambling policy stands regards its gambling monopoly policies. Online bingo games operators and online bingo halls have sensed a change in recent French policy towards a possible relaxing of its ban on foreign online gambling operators. However, this latest ruling fogs the issue for many online bingo industry observers. In the ruling two Malta-based internet gambling companies, Unibet and Expekt have been ordered to compensate Euros 800 000 in damages to the French Tennis Federation due to violation of their rights over the French Tennis Open. Both companies say they will appeal the ruling, according to a statement by the European Gaming and Betting Association of which both are memebers.
