The massive annual bingo fund-raising campaign for charity is headed this year by former Eastenders and Two Thousand Acres of Sky actress, Michelle Collins. During the week of 19 October, bingo clubs across the UK will be turning a rosy shade of pink for Bingo Breakthrough Week. Over the past five years the campaign has raised a staggering £2.75 million through fundraising events in Bingo Clubs, and is hoping to hit the £3 million mark this year. To support the campaign this October, go down to your local bingo hall during 19 and 25 October, or you can play bingo online at Gala Bingo. Michelle has already posed gallantly in a bingo ballgown made entirely of bingo tickets for the cause, and says that she's delighted to be supporting Bingo for Breakthrough 2008. "It is a truly unique event that continues to receive a huge amount of support as well as raising a massive amount of money for this very important cause. I am really looking forward to a fun-filled, action-packed Bingo for Breakthrough week," said the actress. During this special bingo charity week, bingo clubs and online bingo websites all over the country raise money with a whole range of activities including raffles and fancy dress competitions. Bingo club members will be offered a free bingo game and invited to make a donation to the campaign for a chance to win this year's mascot. Participating bingo clubs will also be offering pink daubers for sale, with 75p from each sale going directly to the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.
