The Bingo business in Sweden is gearing up big-time, with the announcement this week of Netplay TV's imminent launch of a Swedish version of Bingos.com.
Established online bingo and TV bingo company Netplay TV acquired Bingos.com in March this year for just over £6 million consideration. The new acquisition brought with it a valuable booty of 1 million bingo players to add to their existing customer database.
Bingos.com is currently operating in the UK, Italy, Spain and Poland. Netplay intends to offer this product in Germany too by the end of the year.
Netplay TV says that both bingo online and traditional bingo is becoming increasingly popular in Sweden, which boasts more than 100 traditional bingo halls. The country has issued almost 600 licenses for non-profit bingo operations, and the Swedes rate the highest statistically in Europe when it comes to gambling, with more than 85% of the population participating in some form of gambling, be it bingo, casino, poker or lotto.
Netplay TV is hoping that the move to Sweden for Bingos.com will benefit their bingo players by allowing them to increase the upper limits of the bingo prize funds.
Netplay CEO Dominic Mansour said: "We are really excited about the Swedish online bingo launch. This further establishes us as the strongest pan-European online bingo brand. The high internet penetration and propensity to play bingo makes Sweden a key market for us. We are fortunate to be in a position to be able to quickly launch into any new market throughout Europe by building upon our existing liquidity."
